About

This is a site for sharing knowledge about feminist issues and other humanistic causes, and analyzing how these issues affect our everyday lives.

Why “nimbygirl”?  I chose this domain name because I wanted to give a new connotation to an acronym that is predominantly used with condescension. In Canada, it’s used to signify our country’s passive reputation in world affairs. The stereotype is that us NIMBYs will support something as long as it doesn’t require our personal effort. However, I think that NIMBY is an interesting acronym because the statement it makes is far from one of complacency, and this blog is my way of showing that.
